Flow Meter WMAG 21 for Wastewater DN150 is a type of Electromagnetic Flow Meter flow meter, which is one type of flow measurement, the product that we will discuss today is WMAG30 High Grade. Before we discuss more details, let’s get to know one by one, what the hell is electromagnetic flow meter?
About Electromagnetic Flow Meter
Electromagnetic flow meter or Magnetic Flow Meter and often called magmeter is a type of flow meter that does not have moving parts . Magnetic flow meter is ideal if used for measurement of fluid flow that is not homogeneous, dirty liquids, liquids containing sludge or for waste fluids or intake water, raw material water, water from reservoirs or rivers that contain a lot of dirt or garbage (plastic, grass or others), so it is quite suitable for use for waste flow meters.
Liquid Conductivity
In general, electromagnetic flow meters can work well if the conductivity of the flow meets the requirements. For the accuracy of electromagnetic flow meters there is also a requirement of minimal flow speed and maximum flow speed. Therefore the capacity of the flow meter is not only based on the size of the flow meter that generally follows the dimensions of the pipe.
To be more precise the size or size of this magnetic flow meter refers to the capacity of the pump or the amount of flow from the fluid in the pipe. This is to maintain the accuracy of the flow meter and at the same time to increase its effectiveness. Because the selection of flow meters with excessive size causes high costs.
Types of Electromagnetic Flow Meter
Electromagnetic flow meter when viewed from the type of installation there are two types, namely:
In Line Model Magnetic flow meters
Electromagnetic flowmeter type In Line is basically putting a sensor or tranducer that has the ability to cause a magnetic field in the form of electrode. Reinforced by coil (coil electric) around the pipe with electrode installation is located opposite on the right and left side of the pipe body.
Electromagnetic flow meter has a fairly good accuracy rate and can be up to 0.2% for certain models. Named inline flow meter because the way it is installed is done by cutting pipes that are continued by installing flange or threads. There is also after the pipe is cut the flowmeter is directly welded to the pipe or clamped as shown below.
Insertion Model Magnetic Flow Meter
Electromagnetic Flow Meter Type Insertion is done by inserting (Insertion) coil electric into the pipe that will be measured flow rate by installing electrode at the end. This type is called insertion because of the way it is installed by perforating the pipe then installed fittting both with the type of welding fitting and saddle fitting that the efficacy of magnetic sensor is included in the fitting.
This type of electromagnetic flow meter insertion is suitable if used for medium and upper pipe sizes. Regarding the price of the insertion electromagnetic flow meter will be lower if applied to pipes with large sizes.
The purpose of installing this type of insertion is usually to shorten the installation time and the cost of installation can be cheaper than the type of inline, especially for pipe types with large sizes above 10 inches.
The workings of these two types of magnetic flowmeters are the same, relying on electrical induction as a result of the presence of current voltage as faraday laws. However, because the principle of work is based on electrical induction, the magnetic flow meter will be able to work well if the flow of water in this flow meter has conductivity that is usually above 20 micro siemens. Therefore magnetic flow meters cannot be used to read hydro carbon fluid flow or demin water that does not have very small conductivity or conductivity.
